More about this wine from McLaren Vale, Australia

The McLaren Vale is probably the most famous region in Australia and it definitely led the way in introducing consumers to wines of ridiculously awesome quality after the American market became flooded with cheap, oak-y Aussie vino. This little magical winemaking place is so cool we made this guide about it. The first grapes were planted in 1838 and the initial winery opened in 1850.

Full-bodied, dry reds are definitely the specialty of McLaren Vale, specifically those crafted from Australia’s signature red variety, Shiraz, which is exactly what we have here with the 2014 Quarterback Red Blend. The juice delivers a soft, well-worn leather with tart blackcurrant and blackberry at first sip. The lagging flavors include prune, cherry, and strawberry, backed by charcoal, toasted caramel, and toffee apple that ends sweet yet spicy pepper, anise, and jammy finish.

How to drink it

Pro Tip:

The family FaceTime session isn't always your favorite activity, but you're feeling up to it with a very generous pour in your glass and childhood memories being reminisced upon..
