More about this wine from Coteaux du Giennois, France (Loire Valley)
As usual, Mary Taylor has sourced an incredible French Sauvignon Blanc from a vineyard lying a bit north of the famous Loire appellations Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume in the quiet town of Coteaux du Giennois; they’ve been producing wines since the 2nd century but only received an AOP status in 1998. Vintner Alice Berthier and her team work their Loire-extension hillside vineyards’ complex soils of silex, limestone and clay - all the same classic Sauvignon terroir of Sancerre and Puilly, but without the fame. Which means any fans of Sancerre wines are going to want to snatch up this infectiously drinkable (and affordable) wine ASAP!
