More about this wine from Valencia, Spain
Warm and sunny Alicante isn't Spain's largest or most famous wine haven. It’s pretty small, in fact. But looming large from the area is Señor Don Primitivo Quiles, who established his bodega, Primitivo Quiles, in 1780. His winery still reigns as the oldest in the region, producing beloved, entirely Spanish-flecked wines treasured all over Europe. It’s well known for producing Monastrell, a grape native to Alicante and one of Spain’s most distinct (and otherwise knows as Mourvèdre in France and Mataro in the U.S.) And from this producer, you’re getting a 100% Monastrell; it's big and burly and a little wild, perhaps taking some personality traits from its founding father.
