More about this wine from Barossa Valley, South Australia
Aussie winemakers are known for making bolder, jammy wines, but we feel like that trend is dead and, good riddance! We're all about a big Cab on a chilly night, but Australia can bring a lot more nuance to the wine scene. In 2014, the Thistledown crew found a Grenache vineyard that performed "out of its skin" which we assume means the juice was worth the squeeze. Now it's confirmed.

The winemaker's goal is to maximize fruit purity, texture, and finesse rather than making another rich red wine. While there is no denying that Grenache is more burly than Pinot, the vision of making Pinot style wines within the challenging framework of Grenache is what these guys achieved. Packing the characteristic Barossa punch, this delicately hued red is otherwise very elegant with vibrant wild strawberry, spice, and silky texture.
