More about this wine from Štajerska, Podravje Region, Slovenia
Ever tried a Blaufränkisch from Slovenia before? Neither had we until we tried this indigenous grape crafted from one of our favorite winemakers, Peter Gönc, who has been making remarkable wines from his family’s estate in the oldest town in Slovenia, Ptuj. The grape grew on the the gravelly part of his vineyard, which meant very tough conditions for the vine. This resulted in a small yield, but intensely flavored juice. Peter being Peter, he went an extra mile and froze the wine outside and siphoned off the partially thawed juice, giving end product an aroma and taste unlike any Blaufränkisch before it.
How to drink it

Pro Tip:

This grape and wine are e a marvel on its own, but pair it with Ideal with Detroit-style pizza for a real treat.
