More about this wine from Barolo DOCG, Piedmont, Italy
As befitting any Nebiollo, the drama of the grapes in this reserve bottle is as intense its the backstory. Back in 1911, Antonio Sperone opened a little wine shop in Torino and then a winery in Puglia that offered his customers quality wines at prices they could afford. During World War 2, it was destroyed, but the winery name survived when grandson Giacomo opened a new winery near Milan. The story continues with the recent purchase of prime Piedmont vineyards that now house the current Franco Serra winery. We raise a glass of big, earthy goodness to the family Serra, who kept the dream alive to bring us this outstanding bottle of red filled with Italian love, sweat and tears.
